This year the former Mixed Doubles 10k Relay has evolved into a new event: the Two For The Road 10k Relay on September 24 in Groton. What does that mean?
It means you no longer have to run with someone of the opposite gender. Pick any partner, young or old, male or female. It's all good. We've made this change so more runners can enjoy the unique, fun-filled 10k Relay format. One runner covers the first 5k. His/Her partner runs the second 5k. Couldn't be simpler.
We'll still have age-group awards for the fastest teams in special categories. Only now there will be more categories. See below.
As previously, the Relay takes place at Esker Point Beach in Groton, with plenty of free parking. Race-day registrations accepted, but please arrive early. Start time: 4 p.m. Organized by the Groton Rec Dept. Timing by SNERRO. Scenic course around Groton Long Point on edge of Long Island Sound beaches.
Mixed: Fastest team, fastest mother-son, fastest father-daughter, fastest brother-sister.
Male-Male: Fastest team, fastest father-son, fastest brother-brother.
Female-Female: Fastest team, fastest mother-daughter, fastest sister-sister.
Married: Fastest male-female, fastest male-male, fastest female-female. (Thank you, State of Connecticut.)
